Badlands Ridge

My new romantic intrigue, BADLANDS RIDGE, is finished and now online for download. To open the book, just click on the words BADLANDS RIDGE anywhere in the text. It will give you the option to download it in the upper right-hand corner of the link.

BADLANDS RIDGE is the story of Dakota Grayeagle, an American Indian who is followed by two unknown men. In her desperation to get away from them, she literally runs into the car of Brock Jones, a public relations expert. His “white knight” side kicks in, and he drives her toward the hospital – until he realizes they are being followed. Instead, he takes her to his place where he can protect her.

Upon her return home, Dakota opens a small package. Even though it’s addressed to her brother Chayton at her apartment, she wants to know how important it is so she can decide how to mail it to him. Her kitten knocks the package from her hands as a small explosion occurs, killing the cat and only injuring Dakota. Not really knowing what to do, she has her friend, who shows up to see what happened, to call Brock. He arrives and insists on taking her to the hospital to have her second-degree burns treated.

The FBI arrives at the hospital to question her, but Dakota only tells them exactly what she knows – except that the package recipient was Chayton. When Brock appears in her hospital room, Dakota mentions that she is going home to South Dakota to see her brother. Despite her protests, Brock insists that he will accompany her.

All Dakota can do is wonder what is going on with Chayton. After all, he was once imprisoned because of his involvement with the American Indian Movement (AIM). Is he still in the organization? Are they trying to dispose of him because of his past involvement and what he may know? The most urgent questions, though, are why is she being followed and will they follow her to Chayton’s ranch?

With any luck, Brock being with her and using his sister’s car will get the men to leave her alone. Unfortunately, more trouble is awaiting Dakota in South Dakota.

Now that my life has settled down for the foreseeable future, I am trying to get two chapters of Danger in Paradise out every week while I work on editing an historical romance. I might change my mind, though, and put chapters on the historical online here and download the entire book of Danger in Paradise to this site.

This week’s chapters are 9 & 10. I hope you enjoy them.

Danger in Paradise, Chaps. 7 & 8

Huachuca Mountains, Hereford, AZ

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. I’ve been terribly busy with ghostwriting, so I haven’t had enough time for my own work. Now I’ve retired from ghostwriting and am getting back to my novels. Things have changed on this site, and I’ll need to get used to them. Please bear with me while I do.

To catch up on Danger in Paradise, please scroll down to refresh your memory.

Hopefully, Danger in Paradise will be finished by the end of January. While I finish it, feel free to read the books posted to download here, such as my historical romance, Sweet Liberty, or go to Amazon Kindle books and find Twin Creek Claim, a romantic intrigue. Amazon books can be purchased or read with Kindle Unlimited.

Sample Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of Danger in Paradise

I don’t now where all of those months since my last post went. I do know, however, that in that time, we had Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I also was sick most of one of those months, and then I tried to break up a dog fight and got bitten in the process. I also broke my foot, from which I’m still recovering. Hopefully, I’m done with all this nonsense.

Today I’m posting three chapters of my book entitled Danger in Paradise. As a reminder, here is the previous blurb about the book: The book I’m working on is entitled Danger in Paradise, and it centers on Jessie Nelson, an intelligence specialist for Wheeler Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Nick Ramsdale, her former boyfriend comes back into her life. While researching a spy novel he’s writing, Nick comes across suspicious information on Jessie’s fiance, Todd Hardy. Determined to reunite with Jessie, while keeping his suspicions to himself, Nick does his best to win Jessie’s heart.

I hope you enjoy the next three chapters. To read chapter one, please scroll down to the last post. Continue reading

Two Books Are Discounted Beginning 9-7-2016

Secret Heart Cover 2

On September 7, 2016, two of my books go on discount pricing. You can access both books in the Romance header on this site. One is under Intrigue and the other is under Historical.

The first book, Secret Heart, is the romantic intrigue, and here is the blurb for it.

Betrayed by her fiance, Lady Ashleigh Prescott flees Great Britain to her cousin in Oklahoma, America.

Hiding at a cabin on the family ranch of her cousin’s wife, Ashleigh lays low so her fiance can’t find her. When Rex Cornelius’ brother-in-law returns from a rodeo tour, she finds herself in more danger than she was in London. But is this large man more dangerous to her safety – or her heart?

Luke Bradford is furious when he learns that someone is living in his cabin. The cold, dark night disguises the intruder’s true identity, though, and he attacks a woman – much to his disbelief and regret. When he begins taking care of Ashleigh to make amends, he learns there was more to this woman than he’d originally. She was hiding a secret, and he is determined to coax it from her.

Then her fiance comes to town, and Luke needs to get her away from him. Did he need to do it for her, though? Or was he doing it to keep her with him? She claims that they can never be together, but he wants to prove her wrong. In order to do that, he needs to save her from whatever fate she claims awaits her in Britain.

With Ashleigh’s fiance on her trail, they head to a rodeo in Arizona. On the way, Luke discovers the truth about her past and possible future. He also knows that he most protect her at all cost. For the first time in his life, he can’t live without a woman.

Before Luke can do that, Ashleigh leaves him to return to Oklahoma and what awaits her in Britain. Will Luke make it to her before she submits to the future?

The second book is a historical romance entitled Kindred Desires. Here is the blurb.

A war was brewing in Scottsburg, Wyoming. That was what the letter slipped under the door at the Scottsburg Sentinal newspaper claimed, and at first, editor Scott MacPherson thought it was cattle ranchers against the sheep farmers who were fencing in their lands. When he realized it was actually one rancher against his third cousin, Heather Scott, though, he was determined to protect her – despite his grandmother’s vehement objections.

But Heather wanted nothing to do with him. She didn’t need a man to protect her. She’d been taking care of herself and her three younger sisters since she was sixteen and their parents had both died. Now Scott, who had come back from years of working in Boston to run the local newspaper for his grandmother, was determined to help her despite her anger with the family. The Scott family hadn’t helped her in four years, and since he refused to publish the letter because he felt it was too dangerous for her, she didn’t believe she needed any help from him.

Or did she? Her sheep were getting killed on a fairly regular basis, and Scott only wanted to protect her like he did when those men had shot at them one night. Unfortunately, Scott’s charm was winning her over so she fought with him just to keep her emotional distance. When they were stranded after an avalanche caused by someone shooting at them, she realized that her attempts to keep him from getting into her heart had failed, just as her sisters had proclaimed.

Before she could marry Scott, though, they needed to trap that cattle rancher into a confession so they could get him out of her life once and for all.

Now I’m busy with research for my next ghostwriting project. I love ghostwriting, and if anybody is interested in my working for you at $0.01 per word, please feel free to contact me here on my blog. The length of the project doesn’t matter. I’ve worked for 5,000 words up to 100,000 words and more. I’ve also written anything from “clean” romances to erotic romances, but I do like to concentrate on romances.
