Badlands Ridge

BADLANDS RIDGE is the story of Dakota Grayeagle, an American Indian who is followed by two unknown men. In her desperation to get away from them, she literally runs into the car of Brock Jones, a public relations expert. His “white knight” side kicks in, and he drives her toward the hospital – until he realizes they are being followed. Instead, he takes her to his place where he can protect her.

Upon her return home, Dakota opens a small package. Even though it’s addressed to her brother Chayton at her apartment, she wants to know how important it is so she can decide how to mail it to him. Her kitten knocks the package from her hands as a small explosion occurs, killing the cat and only injuring Dakota. Not really knowing what to do, she has her friend, who shows up to see what happened, to call Brock. He arrives and insists on taking her to the hospital to have her second-degree burns treated.

The FBI arrives at the hospital to question her, but Dakota only tells them exactly what she knows – except that the package recipient was Chayton. When Brock appears in her hospital room, Dakota mentions that she is going home to South Dakota to see her brother. Despite her protests, Brock insists that he will accompany her.

All Dakota can do is wonder what is going on with Chayton. After all, he was once imprisoned because of his involvement with the American Indian Movement (AIM). Is he still in the organization? Are they trying to dispose of him because of his past involvement and what he may know? The most urgent questions, though, are why is she being followed and will they follow her to Chayton’s ranch?

With any luck, Brock being with her and using his sister’s car will get the men to leave her alone. Unfortunately, more trouble is awaiting Dakota in South Dakota.

Portrait of Obsession

My newest title, Portrait of Obsession, is now available for free on Books by Liz. You can get it by clicking on the picture above or by clicking on the title below the picture.

Ethan Lucas sees the portrait above a poker table on the River Goddess. In an attempt to win the portrait of the lovely woman he feels drawn to, he gambles with the sternwheeler’s owner, Frank Bower. Not only does he win the portrait, however, he also wins the riverboat.

When Blythe Bouvier boards the boat a few years later, Ethan realizes he’s seen her before–in the portrait hanging in his office. Blythe greets him, but he grumbles in return. Given his size and initial attitude, she avoids him. One night, she meets another man who offers to help her get away from Ethan. To her surprise, the man kisses her, and Ethan bursts forward to attack the man. Blythe disappears while Ethan engages with the man. Dismayed, Ethan discovers she’s gone.

Despite Blythe’s efforts to stay away from him, they meet, and he offers to show her the portrait in his office so she can understand why he has been wanting to find her. Although attracted to him, Blythe fears getting to know him better, especially upon learning that he’s married. Ethan, though, insists he’s not–but he also admits to lying. Therefore, Blythe doesn’t believe that he’s single.

After he beds her for the first time, Blythe goes missing. Ethan believes she jumped overboard and died. He goes into mourning, drinking heavily to forget his guilt and grief. Neither his friend Jennings nor his “wife” Naomi can console him.

Over time, they become closer and Ethan learns of Blythe’s search for her grandparents. Ethan convinces her that the portrait “Angel” could be her grandmother. When Naomi, with whom Blythe is friends, dies in a tragic accident reminiscent of Blythe’s disappearance. Blythe struggles to remain emotionally distant while comforting Ethan.

At one port, they stop to search for Blythe’s grandfather, who sent a letter and indicates he lives in that town. While there, Blythe realizes that her grandfather, Francois Bouvier and Frank Bower are the same person. They find his family, but he died shortly after Ethan won the River Goddess. They decide to go on to New Orleans, Louisiana, hoping to find her grandmother still alive. To Blythe’s delight, they find her, although she within days of dying. Blythe spends the remainder of her grandmother’s life at her bedside.

After several proposals, Blythe finally accepts Ethan’s proposal. Why now? He finally told her that he loves her. Once married, they begin to build a life together in the city where she found her extended family.

It’s Been Too Long

The Huachuca Mountains in Arizona

I’m ashamed that it’s been so long since I’ve posted, but I’ve been working on a new historical romance.

This new one is set on a riverboat traveling through the eastern United States. Blythe Bouvier sets off to find her grandmother after her father’s death. On the River Goddess, she sees a portrait of a woman who looks exactly like her. The owner of the riverboat, Ethan Lucas, is determined to help Blythe.

Within the next two weeks I’ll have a couple of chapters edited and ready for posting.

Please watch for the upcoming posts before I post the entire book.

Danger in Paradise, Chaps. 7 & 8

Huachuca Mountains, Hereford, AZ

It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here. I’ve been terribly busy with ghostwriting, so I haven’t had enough time for my own work. Now I’ve retired from ghostwriting and am getting back to my novels. Things have changed on this site, and I’ll need to get used to them. Please bear with me while I do.

To catch up on Danger in Paradise, please scroll down to refresh your memory.

Hopefully, Danger in Paradise will be finished by the end of January. While I finish it, feel free to read the books posted to download here, such as my historical romance, Sweet Liberty, or go to Amazon Kindle books and find Twin Creek Claim, a romantic intrigue. Amazon books can be purchased or read with Kindle Unlimited.

Sample Chapters 2, 3, and 4 of Danger in Paradise

I don’t now where all of those months since my last post went. I do know, however, that in that time, we had Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. I also was sick most of one of those months, and then I tried to break up a dog fight and got bitten in the process. I also broke my foot, from which I’m still recovering. Hopefully, I’m done with all this nonsense.

Today I’m posting three chapters of my book entitled Danger in Paradise. As a reminder, here is the previous blurb about the book: The book I’m working on is entitled Danger in Paradise, and it centers on Jessie Nelson, an intelligence specialist for Wheeler Air Force Base in Honolulu, Hawaii. Nick Ramsdale, her former boyfriend comes back into her life. While researching a spy novel he’s writing, Nick comes across suspicious information on Jessie’s fiance, Todd Hardy. Determined to reunite with Jessie, while keeping his suspicions to himself, Nick does his best to win Jessie’s heart.

I hope you enjoy the next three chapters. To read chapter one, please scroll down to the last post. Continue reading
